JOIN IN WITH THIS YEAR'S CHARITY GOLF DAY!

The South Buckinghamshire is once again holding its annual Chairman's Charity Golf Day, which this year will be on Friday 16th September, to help raise money for South Buckinghamshire good causes.

Councillor Duncan Smith, Chairman of South Bucks District Council, says 'Last year was enjoyed by all and the day was a great success with over £4,000 raised for my Community Fund. I am looking forward to this year's event and am sure with your help we will raise a lot of money once again. In 2015 I took on the challenge to play with a chipping putter and beat more than 10 golfers on the par three 2nd hole, I hope to do even better at this year's golf day and challenge all golfers to come join in with the day and take a swing against me in aid of my Community Fund".

The 2016 charity golf day, sponsored by Berkeley Homes (Oxford and Chiltern) Ltd, is in aid of the Chairman's Community Fund, which enables local charities to apply for funding to continue with their good work. The South Buckinghamshire is looking for teams to enter as well as sponsors and donations for the raffle and auction taking place on the day. Sponsorship boards start from £200 and are a great way to advertise your company while supporting a worthwhile cause. DRIVE2DRIVE FOR DISABLED GOLF ASSOCIATION

The South Buckinghamshire Golf Course is supporting Graeme Robertson is his fundraising challenge for the Disabled Golf Association. Graeme, who has Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, on Monday 30th May will be attempting to play 18 holes at 18 different courses in 1 day; to help fund Team England in Internationals, as well as to develop infrastructure and equipment for the Disabled Golf Association.

Graeme Robertson says "I am a former 13 handicapper, my MS means I'm not as good as I used to be, but I get so much enjoyment from playing golf again. Golf is great for therapy/rehabilitation, out in the fresh air, stimulating neural pathways. I cannot walk across a room, but have the drive and determination to succeed"

Starting at 7am and playing until late, Graeme will be visiting the 18 hole Colt/Hawtree course in Stoke Poges around 4.30pm, hitting the 10th hole which is 188 yards long, and a difficult par 3 with bunkers protecting the green. The course is a public pay and play facility set in 130 aces of attractive mature wooded parkland and is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. Weekday green fees start from just £11 per person and the clubhouse also provides a beautiful setting for members, society days, and private and corporate functions. The Disabled Golf Association played The South Buckinghamshire for the first time in 2015, with over 20 players starting the day with breakfast before playing the course and enjoying a meal afterwards, and after a very enjoyable day will be returning in 2016.

The golf staff and catering team are always happy to assist and help arrange their day with a breakfast, golf and lunch package; The Disabled Golf Association are given a private day with a typical golf package of bacon rolls and coffee for breakfast, served in the main function room, followed by 18 holes of golf and lunch from the society menu. Golf packages are available 7 days a week and start from just £18 per person or tailored packages can be arranged to suit your needs. To book a round of golf or for further details on The South Buckinghamshire visit www.the thesouthbuckinghamshire.co.uk or call 01753 643332.
